This exquisite Fucine Romane ring is inspired by the sinuous forms and deadly beauty of the serpent, an animal that has been the symbol of Mother Earth and a manifestation of Nature since the origin of Man. It holds the meanings of renewal, cyclicity and healing.

An ancient myth tells that a snake brought Aesculapius, the God of Medicine, the miraculous herb to resurrect the son of Theseus, King of Athens. It is from this tale that its recognition as a universal symbol of medical aid derives today. The serpent then became a constellation. It resides in the sky, where we turn our eyes in contemplation.

The cult of Aesculapius was introduced to Rome during the plague of the 3rd century BC, when a large temple was built on Tiber Island. Today, that space is occupied by the Church of San Bartolomeo all'Isola. The original millenary sacred well, with its thaumaturgic waters, was incorporated into the new Christian Church.

The therapeutic inclination of the Island has not died out, as today it hosts the Fatebenefratelli hospital, immersed in the most sublime and picturesque setting of the city. A subtle detail can be discovered - on the prow of Tiber Island, there is an ancient low relief depicting a snake.

The Serpent Ring is a precious jewel, a sculpture and a work of art that is expertly forged by the skilled hands of Fucine Romane’s craftsmen. The tapered body is finely sculpted with the ancient technique of diamond cuts, a stylistic feature adopted by our brand. Diamond cuts give the precious metal an incredible brilliance. The jewellery reflects the light like a pavé of diamonds.

The serpent’s head is polished to bring out the elegant geometry of the individually hand-carved scales. The powerful expression and the details of the half-open mouth and sharp teeth give movement and character to the ring.

Handcrafted and brought to perfection in Rome with respect for Nature and Human Dignity. Made exclusively of pure 24 carat Fairmined Eco Gold and pure 999 Fairmined Silver, sustainable and free of toxic chemicals.

Packaging

The fine wood boxes and wool pouches, which we do not consider as mere wrappings, but as silent guardians of small Works of Art, are evidence of the great beauty of the Human Soul and of the craftsmanship that distinguishes Fucine Romane. The wood comes from forests managed in harmony with Nature and the wool is the gift of lovingly reared flocks.
