The papyrus, from which this jewel takes its inspiration, is a plant of remote oriental provenance. It found fertile ground all over the Mediterranean basin, the cradle of countless great civilizations. The papyrus played a fundamental role among the Ancient Egyptians and many were the uses of this precious plant, Nature’s beloved gift. Paper was made from its fiber; its inner and tender part was a very common source of nourishment; its dried stalks were used to make mats, wicks for lamps and even boats. Its great aesthetic beauty and indisputable intrinsic value inspired endless artistic representations, in the lush style of the civilisation that was born and prospered on the banks of the Nile.

The Fucine Romane Papiro Pendant is a goldsmith creation of great elegance and splendour. It pays homage to the plant that allowed one of the longest-lived and most refined civilizations of the Mediterranean to thrive.


The three elements that make up the Papiro Pendant are joined together by a small hinge, which allows delicate and light movements that recall the tinkling of the jewellery worn in Ancient Egypt.

Fucine Romane is pleased to propose this refined pendant in two versions, each beautifully created and decorated by hand with different handcrafting techniques. The first version is finely hand-engraved with the ancient technique of diamond cuts, resembling a magnificent pavé of diamonds, a triumph of sparkling lights. The second version highlights the contrast between diamond cuts and mirror polishing, a sophisticated and intriguing aesthetic research that bewitches the eye.
